The pioneer of modern design
Eileen Gray is one of the most famous women in craft and design history. She breaks with all conventions, remains independent and never joins a personality of modern architecture like Le Corbusier. She is considered a pioneer of modernism and goes her own way professionally, which is not a matter of course in her time as a woman. She criticises the architecture of the avant-garde as too intellectual and soulless and fights for a design with spirit and heart.
