The Golden Age - Dutch Art of the 17th Century

Sun, 20.03.2022
11:00 - 12:30
Look forward to fantastic flowers and tiny beetles, a show-off with a Great Dane, playful piggies and a wild pinky.
Never were there so many artists in the same place at the same time as in the Netherlands in the 17th century. With the wealth that came with sea power, the art market also boomed and the demand for painting increased rapidly in all classes of society. Paintings became part of everyday culture. Fairs, markets and lotteries offered the opportunity to purchase paintings and many artists worked for the anonymous market for the first time. Economic success and artistic quality were by no means mutually exclusive, and new pictorial themes enjoyed great popularity. You can find out more on a walk through the different genres of the so-called "Golden Age". Our ONLINE ART BREAK gives you the opportunity to experience these masterpieces from the comfort of your own home.
